We appreciate your report. I was able to reproduce the issue. When zooming out in a map area that has more content, Firefox presents performance issues, as the zooming is laggy. The best way to reproduce the issue is to follow an area on the map that has a lot of content( big cities for example URL: https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?hl=en&mid=1VQHZbH9Elf3YIR0JCo9qQ0ywXGA&ll=38.92342577871917%2C-77.04566700000001&z=13):
Tested with:
Browser / Version: Firefox Release 103.0.2 (64-bit)/ Firefox Nightly 106.0a1 (2022-08-22) (64-bit) /Chrome Version Version 104.0.5112.102 (Official Build) (64-bit) Operating System: Windows 10 PRO x64
Notes:
Moving this to NeedsDiagnosis for further investigations.

URL: https://maps.google.com
Browser / Version: Firefox 103.0 Operating System: Windows 10 Tested Another Browser: Yes Chrome
Problem type: Something else Description: Zooming in and out isn't as smooth in Firefox, yet if you set your user agent to 'Chrome' it is a lot smoother. Steps to Reproduce: Zoom in and out when the page has fully loaded, and the smoothness isn't as smooth in Firefox. It's a lot smoother in Chrome and other Chrome browsers. If you set your user agent in Firefox to Chrome the zooming matches Chrome, so it appears to be a maps.google.com issue and not a Firefox one.
