We appreciate your report. I was not able to reproduce the issue.

Tested with:

Browser / Version: Firefox Release 114.0.2 (64-bit) Operating System: Windows 11

@bmaster001 Suggestion: Try clearing cache/data/cookies, disabling add-ons and Ad-blocker (if available) and extensions or use a clean profile, and check again? If there are any changes made to the default settings of the browser (e.g. in about:config) please revert to the default settings and try again. Also, have the required cookies been accepted for this page?

Hello @softvision-raul-bucata

I tried everything you suggested: cleared cache and cookies, disabled all add-ons (had only bitwarden), and even tried the "Refresh firefox" option. The site doesn't ask me to accept cookies though. I'm having the same issue in a private window, and with a new profile... (Firefox was upgraded to the most recent version 115.0.1 btw).

@sv-calin Can you take a look at this please, using your win 11 device?

bmaster001 commented 1 year ago

If it helps: I just tried it on my Windows 10 work computer, and I don't see this issue... So it might be Win11 related.

sv-calin commented 1 year ago

I'm unable to reproduce this issue, the memory usage is stable.

Tested on: • Browser / Version: Firefox Release 115 • Operating System: Windows 11

Can't say it's stable here... Any more suggestions on how to debug this further?

I'm not quite sure what might cause this issue if its still reproducible on a new profile. Are there any errors in the console? Are you using any software in the background that might interfere with the browser?

Also could you test on Firefox Nightly as well and give us an update, please?

[inv_29/2023]

bmaster001 commented 1 year ago

Nothing strange in the console I think: image

Also, closing the tab alone doesn't help, I need to close the entire browser. The Nightly version does the exact same thing. I have no other apps running, except Chrome, but I hope that does not interfere :-)

Thanks for looking into it. Could you provide a screenshot with the Add-ons section from "Troubleshooting Information", please?

Steps:

  1. Open a new tab.
  2. Type "about:support" in the address bar.
  3. Enter.
  4. Scroll down the page until you reach Add-ons section.
  5. Make a screenshot of the whole "Add-ons" section.

Sure, here's a screenshot from the Nightly firefox: image

I just thought of something... My Windows is on the Insider Beta program... could that make any difference?

softvision-raul-bucata commented 1 year ago

@bmaster001 Thanks for that. Yes, that could be the cause, since Beta versions are known to be unstable. Also, I can see several themes active. Did you try in a new profile? A new profile should not display any themes/add-ons active.

I installed a clean nightly firefox, tried in a private window, tried a new profile, all the same. Those themes came default i guess?

And if it's caused by the beta windows, what should we do with that? How to tell if it is a Microsoft issue or a Firefox issue?

softvision-raul-bucata commented 1 year ago

@bmaster001 Can you check in a stable version of Windows, official release? The beta version is known to cause issues and be unstable.

Seems to work fine on a 'normal' Windows 11 (as @sv-calin already found out). I'll try to report this to Microsoft, but something tells me that they will point to Firefox to fix this... :-/

softvision-raul-bucata commented 1 year ago

@bmaster001 It might be a valid issue on the next version that follows the Beta Version. Until then, there is nothing we can do on our part, as we only test on stable release versions. Please re-open the issue or file a new report when the stable version that follows the Beta version of Win is released and the issue still reproduces on the stable version.
