www.mydealz.de - Selection jumps when trying to select a specific bold text #126222

URL: https://www.mydealz.de/deals/bfdi-4-pixi-bucher-kostenlos-die-daten-fuchse-aber-warum-was-ist-informationsfreiheit-das-ist-privat-was-ist-datenschutz-2189049

Browser / Version: Firefox Mobile 116.0 Operating System: Android 13 Tested Another Browser: Yes Chrome

Problem type: Something else Description: Selection jumps around when trying to select specific(?) bold text (making coping it a pain) Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Visit the site.
  2. Try to select the text “Pixi Wissen – Was ist Informationsfreiheit?” - that is your challenge and you will fail, yeah you think it is easy, but it is not at all…
  3. When you reach the end of the selection (the question mark), in Firefox the selection jumps at the top, which is crazy. It thereby selects a lot more text than what you want.

Note the use case is obviously coping that text part.

Hmm, I tried to reproduce it again using private mode in Firefox and disabling add-ons and I still could. I even switched to horizontal format and I could reproduce it hmm... (I otherwise would have said maybe it depends on the screen resolution?)

Screen should be 6.3"Zoll; Full HD+ (1080 x 2340 Pixel), 409 ppi according to Wikipedia.

This about:support gist should still apply: https://gist.github.com/rugk/4f02a953d06e8e654383031227f93c8e

I was able to reproduce the issue on OnePlus 6 A6000 but not on Google Pixel 5.

Reported downstream to my CustomROM maintainers: https://gitlab.com/CalyxOS/calyxos/-/issues/1801.

Just because it turned out to be device-specific, or maybe ROM-specific. So maybe it is related to Android selection handling?
