www.youtube.com - video or audio doesn't play #132334

Closed lstatie closed 9 months ago

URL: https://www.youtube.com/

Browser / Version: Firefox 122.0 Operating System: Windows 10 Tested Another Browser: Yes Edge

Problem type: Video or audio doesn't play Description: The video or audio does not play Steps to Reproduce: With Both Edge, Chrome or Firefox (release version), YouTube videos play. With FF 122, any beta, I have to reload the page a few times for the video to play. With the latest beta, no matter how many times I reload the page, the video does not play. Commercials play, but the video does not. The busy icon keeps spinning indefinitely. Hovering over videos shows a preview play in all browsers (even Firefox release version), but not 122 betas. Please fix this, I use YouTube to research tutorials and serious videos from professionals and I now have to open other browsers to view anything on YouTube.

PS. I do not have any plug-ins running. With Firefox release version, even with plug-ins, YouTube videos play fine.

We appreciate your report but I was not able to reproduce this issue.

https://github.com/webcompat/web-bugs/assets/107036654/3cd91482-6cd3-43bd-861a-89ec10288bee

Tested on: • Browser / Version: Firefox Beta 122 • Operating System: Windows 10

Suggestions: • Clear cache/data/cookies, disable Ad-blocker (if available), or create a new profile (without syncing/importing data) and check again • If there are any changes made to the default settings of the browser (e.g. in about:config), please revert to the default settings

How to create a new profile:

  1. Open a new tab
  2. Type in the address bar "about:profiles"
  3. Press "Enter"
  4. Click on "Create a New Profile"
  5. Click "Next"
  6. Name your profile
  7. Click "Finish"
  8. Head to your newly created profile
  9. Click "Launch profile in new browser"

Note: You can return to your old profile at any given time by accessing "about:profiles" in the address bar

Thank you for checking. For some reason YouTube stops working. Last time I removed a YouTube plugin and it worked fine. Until now. That same YouTube plug-in is working fine with the released version of Firefox. I have all my plugins disabled. As a developer, I need some plug-ins to do my work, so I have to see which one kills YouTube at random.

Thanks for the update. In that case if the issue does not reproduce without add-ons, closing this as worksforme. If you managed to find the exact add-on causing the issue, it should be reported to the developers of that add-on.
