www.youtube.com - Youtube short video starts playing when viewing a youtube video in another tab #134781

Problem type: Something else Description: Youtube shorts page changes when entering full screen in another tab Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Watch youtube shorts. Scroll down to another and yet another short. Take note of the name of the next to last short.
  2. Go to next short, pause it. Take note of the name of the short.
  3. Open another tab. Navigate to some youtube video.
  4. Play the video and enter full screen.
  5. Hear the next to last short playing in the background.
  6. Exit full screen and note that the tab with the paused short has loaded the next to last short and started autoplaying it.
  7. Can also be repeated with twitch.tv streams and presumably any full screen video source.

We appreciate your report. I was able to reproduce the issue by following the steps to reproduce. The youtube short starts playing when entering/leaving full screen mode in another tab:

Tested with:

Browser / Version: Firefox Release 123.0.1 (64-bit)/ Firefox Nightly 125.0a1 (2024-03-17) (64-bit) /Chrome Version 122.0.6261.129 (Official Build) (64-bit) Operating System: Windows 10 PRO x64

Notes:

  1. Reproducible regardless of the status of ETP.
  2. Reproducible on the latest build of Firefox Nightly and Release.
  3. Works as expected using Edge.

Similar thing happens when I open Outlook in firefox (https://outlook.live.com/mail/0). Paused Youtube shorts reloads, not the previous video, not the next video, but the third video forward.
