URL: https://www.twitch.tv

Browser / Version: Firefox 130.0 Operating System: Windows 11 Tested Another Browser: Yes Edge

Problem type: Video or audio doesn't play Description: There is no audio Steps to Reproduce: The first second or so of clips on twitch.tv lack sound on Firefox, after that it begins playing audio as normal. The audio on the video player isn't muted, it simply lacks sound for the beginning of clips, even when rewinded. I've replicated it with no extensions, no cache/cookies, fresh install of Firefox 130.0 on multiple computers (Windows 11 23H2, macOS Sonoma 14.6.1). The issue does not occur on Microsoft Edge or Safari.

Browser Configuration
  • None

We appreciate your report. I was not able to reproduce the issue following the steps to reproduce

Tested with:

Browser / Version: Firefox Release 130.0 (64-bit) Operating System: Windows 11

Suggestion: Try clearing cache/data/cookies, disabling add-ons and Ad-blocker (if available) and extensions or use a clean profile, and check again? If there are any changes made to the default settings of the browser (e.g. in about:config) please revert to the default settings and try again. Also, have the required cookies been accepted for this page?

I've done some more testing again, and was able to replicate the issue on a fresh profile (Firefox Release 130.0 (64-bit)) and also on a completely fresh install of Firefox Developer Edition 131.0b1 (64-bit).

However, the severity of the issue varies between clips, with some clips having up to multiple seconds of silence at the beginning, and others being seemingly unaffected.

In fact, as I was writing this I noticed that the issue seems to be that the playback of the clip on Firefox begins earlier (in regards to the full VOD the clip is sourced from), compared to Edge or Safari. This is reflected in the video length shown by the player, and this extra video playback at the beginning is the portion that lacks accompanying audio.
