Ever since IE11 on Windows Phone 8.1 changed its user agent, cbc.ca/m/news will not load properly. This occurred with WP 8.1 Update 1.

To replicate this in IE11 on the desktop change your user agent to Mozilla/5.0 (Mobile; Windows Phone 8.1; Android 4.0; ARM; Trident/7.0; Touch; rv:11.0; IEMobile/11.0; NOKIA; Lumia 930) like iPhone OS 7_0_3 Mac OS X AppleWebKit/537 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile Safari/537

yup, thanks for reporting @DigitalJustin - we can validate this is occurring on WPhone 8.1 update. Mostly likely a browser detection error. Investigating for a diagnosis

under investigation as of 12/18/2014

Diagnosis Notes: This is a WP 8.1 Update 1 issue only and it's due to the UA string change in Update 1 which causes CBC to navigate the user to the mobile Chrome/Safari page. This is not a problem in WP 8.1 as they were navigated to the working www.cbc.ca/m/touch/news.html instead of the non-working www.cbc.ca/m/news. The XHR bug in www.cbc.ca/m/news causing the page to not load correctly is fixed in WPhone10 (WP 10), which no longer repros the bug. The recommended resolution is to reach out to CBC and have them detect WP 8.1 Update 1 without also detecting WP 10 so that they can navigate to www.cbc.ca/m/touch/news.html for WP 8.1 Update 1 and www.cbc.ca/m/news for WP 10.

this issue no longer reproduces in Windows Phone 10, so most likely will need to be outreached by customer. We will reply if cbc engages.

Microsoft Edge is the default browser for Windows 10 and all efforts are focused on the Windows 10 Anniversary Update occurring on 8/2. Issue cannot be reproduced in MS Edge, closing.
