I think this is intentional. There is only a how to for enabling microphone access in Chrome. https://support.duolingo.com/hc/en-us/articles/207568713-How-do-I-allow-Duolingo-to-use-my-microphone-on-Chrome-

And in this thread someone mentions:

On another post an admin stated that speaking exercises are currently only available on browsers that support Web Speech API. I downloaded Chrome to my PC and did my lessons from that browser and they finally re-appeared.

You can see from Can I Use that the speech recognition API is only available in Chrome and Opera. http://caniuse.com/#search=Speech%20Recognition%20API

@karlcow since this is a feature Firefox doesn't support, do you think we should close this report for now?
