What is the best chat platform for webhint contributors? #3786

We currently have community/contributor chat set up in Gitter (https://gitter.im/webhintio/Lobby). However, it's fairly quiet. I'd be interested to hear if another platform (Slack, Discord, etc.) would be preferred. Feel free to chime in with thoughts.

Been using discord for react native stuff. Works pretty good and it's free 🙃 Also the web experience is better than slack when joining multiple communities.

Adding to the agenda so we can make a final decission.

Reached out to OpenJS Foundation to see if there's a cross-project infrastructure we could benefit from here.

OpenJS has a Slack, though there are not channels for individual projects there. GitHub Discussions might be another good choice, as it's integrated directly into GitHub. I've enabled it for this repo if folks want to try it.

I'd suggest Freenode (IRC). All Freenode rooms are automatically bridged to Matrix, for those who'd prefer a a more "modern" client. A bridge from Matrix to the existing Gitter channel should be trivial since Gitter now supports Matrix natively.

This way, we could keep the existing Gitter channel but invite Matrix and IRC users as well; doing so would significantly lower the barrier to entry using open standards and protocols.

Also, the Gitter room is already accessible through both IRC and Matrix, but the IRC integration requires a Gitter account.

If webhint uses another platform, it would ideally bridge to the existing Gitter room.
