I would like to upgrade to gingerbread from 2.1 update 1 samsung galaxy GTI5700 #86

I have a Samsung Galaxy GTI5700 running currently 2.1 update 1. I have run an 
application called Sam FW and as a result it gave me an actual firmware as 
follows;

I570EXXJCD/I570EXXJCI/I570EXXJCD

Would it be possible to run gingerbread on it as it is a requirement for a job 
I will be starting soon , so it is a must that the phone will be reliable for 
GPS location etc...

Can you advise on this on how and where to do it and safely please as well. Or 
do i need to get another phone who runs a better gingerbread?

Also I cannot run KIES is that would help for the firmware upgrade since i do 
not have PCs but only macs
