I believe that the comment (saying that we couldn't do this) was wrongly copied from cores.py. I g=have removed the comment, and modified cores.py to explain why IDE cannot be used, and to detect an attempt to run under IDE.
There is a comment: Do not try to run this under the IDE, as it fights with multiprocessing
Is this still true? Maybe newer IDE has fixed? I haven't seen any problem today.
