Timed out waiting for packet header" #24

Hi folks, today I'm facing with this problem. Until yesterday all has been worked well. After a lot of trying, the ultimate test I've done is the following: Same PC, same USB port, same cable and same board (wemos D1), I've changed only OS ... with linux (Ubuntu 20.04) I got the problem, instead with Windows 10 all works well. So the problem is clearly software related. Tried to downgrade esptool from 3.01 to 2.6 but with no luck; tried also to unistall esptool and reinstall but, in the same way, no luck. With the same port and same cable tried to upload firmware to an ESP32 without any problem. So I guess that the problem round about esptool, but how to solve?

Hello, I have the same problem, I searched in Google and I fixed the problem installing Arduino in the official page. They install a packages that fix the problem automatically, only in the installation accept all the permission that need.
