If you have a look at the Source Code Pro for Powerline fonts, you can see that there are various weights.

Would you be open to a PR that adds those weights?

Sure thing. Keep it coming. I'm not very responsive during holidays but please send it.

Done for DejaVu Sans Mono and Source Code Pro also.
