System Start Not Working #15

Closed puppykickr closed 5 years ago

puppykickr commented 5 years ago

I recently updated to version 1.3

It seems that the 'System Start' feature is no longer working, even though the box is checked in the settings.

I do know that the app used to start itself when the phone was restarted or powered back up.

I have the app on two different devices, and the issue appears on both.

ZTE 558VL 7.1.1 Poblano VLE 8.1.0

Before this recent update, the app did self start on both devices.

I can't see any issue from here. I've tested it on Android 9, and the versions you mentioned (7.1.1/8.1), with and without random location on and it starts fine. Is the system start option definitely on? The update shouldn't have changed any settings but worth checking. Can you try a full removal and install and report back? Cheers.

I will test once again, most likely over the weekend, as this is generally when I do updates, cleaning out junk, and restarts.

Verified today, at 20 after midnight that on one of my devices running 7.1.1 the start on boot IS functioning correctly.

At this point, I will assume that it also works with the other device running the same OS.

I still have not tested the 8.1.0 device yet.

Ok, after an hour (the setting I chose for the random position to change) the app has stopped.

I have waited another hour and it has not restarted.

I actually didn't check to see if the app itself has stopped, but the location is drawing a blank on my homescreen (as shown by the lack of night hours shown on clock).

Is the notification still there? Is there a location on a third party maps app? I'll try and replicate it.

Ok, I just booted my 8.1.0 and the app started like it is supposed to.

As for how I monitor if the location function is working, my homescreen is a widget, 24 Hour Analog Clock, and it shows which hours are daylight and nighttime.

As I use this same app on all three of my devices, it is easy to tell at a glance of the homescreen if the random position has been changed.

As I have seen, after the alotted time the nighttime hours area becomes the default- 12 hours lightly shaded.

Perhaps the fact that I disabled notifications has some affect?

I've no idea to be honest. I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't start, it could be something to do with the widget maybe. Widgets are known to be a bit finicky at times, I don't know if you checked with something like Maps.me or not to rule out the widget. I checked it on my phone (9.0) without the notification and no problems to report. If you manage to replicate the issue please re-open.
