The Qty field currently does not multiply the Cn weight, so if a PC carries 10 gems at 1cn each, the total weight recoreded is counted as 1cn.
Granted, users can manually adjust both fields with each depletion; Qty 10, Wt 10..... Qty 9, Wt 9.... etc. But the math gets a little slower with odd numbers (You have 17 things that weigh 13cn, you use 3 of them...)
