Menu Clicks not being caught - iOS devices #156

Several iOs participants seem to have to click the menu button several times before it registers. Slow the video down and you can see them. Second participant is clearly annoyed. iPad Mini user P32 mentioned it afterwards, but I can't see it in his video - would have to scan through the whole thing.

@neoinsight What is the password for the video?

I don't have access to an iPad Mini but I asked someone with an iPad to try the menus on Canada.ca (both in landscape and portrait). They had no problems with opening the menu in both landscape and portrait view (opened first tap every time). Also got them to rapidly switch between landscape and portrait to see it that would affect anything and everything continued to work on the first tap.

Can you reproduce on a different iPad Mini or any other iOS device? I also tried an Android smartphone and had no issues there either.

@neoinsight Do you have any details regarding the iOS versions used? Do you happen to know what browsers the participants were using?

@neoinsight Okay, I finally viewed the video but it is hard to tell because of the ghosting whether the button was missed altogether the first try or not. It looks like with the first participant that contact was on the white space above the button with the second lower attempt being successful. With the second participant it looked like a miss to the right, a miss below then a hit on the third. Hard to tell for sure because of ghosting but it looked just like misses to me and not a technical issue. Of course it could be a sign that the target could be too small but that is a different matter.

Does the new design with the two icons take care of this problem? Or is there still an issue?

neoinsight commented 10 years ago

@thomasgohard Yes, I believe so - I think Paul said there was also a bug he discovered that was making the icon smaller than intended. This could be closed.

Thanks @neoinsight.

Closing.
