Allows the PPer to continue a .pm directive onto successive lines by using a \ character as the final character on the line. This facilitates using long operands on a macro, such as an illustration caption, or a sidenote, etc.
Note: The \ is removed completely, and is not substituted with a blank. The continuation begins in the left-most position of the next line. If a blank is needed (i.e., to indicate a subsequent parameter) then it must be included by the PPer.
