Example notebooks fail #1291

It looks like the recent changes to bring the Fedora and Python versions up to date, along with the associated Python libraries, have broken some of the example notebooks.

Where do we go from here ?

We can't use the current HEAD branch for a new deployment, the example notebooks don't work.
Reverting back to an old version of Fedora and Python is not a great option either.

PR #1290 contains details of which examples are failing and how they were tested.

All the notebooks pass if we revert to a version before pull request #1240.
