Perhaps us a more interrupt driven approach rather than polling #3

Not sure about this, as we can change the poll time in the config and the reader caches the ID in it's memory. GPIO polling makes sense if using RPi.GPIO or gpiozero. Will think about it as the wider scheme of things to do.

Thought about this, I think it is fine as it is at the moment.
