Teacher oversight; invite Peter Merrill, Carroll Perry and Chris Shaw (initial) #1

Do we need a teacher to lend the program authority? Debbie's support has been integral and interesting to see the dynamic in so much as she is not a teacher and therefore perhaps viewed as non-threatening? At the same time is that the right mix of student engagement having alums with an alum administrator? I wondered whether we were viewed as too much 'outsiders' by not having a teacher present/endorsing the project. Jesse could be a good person to ask this question to.

i think if anything, the Students see Debby as a threat, and she noticed that as well. i think we should definitely invite teachers to attend so they can see what's happening and maybe recommend to their students as a way of taking classroom knowledge and applying it practically. However i don't think we need teacher "oversight". i met with the faculty on this thing last spring, and they will create more work than we want to deal with. I think Debby and Peter Merrill, Chris Shaw, and Carroll Perry should be the first ones to attend and then let them invited other teachers if they'd like.
