Market research emphasis. Part of a good business plan, but may need extra attention.
There is an opportunity to teach them the building blocks of a good venture in a much more broken down way. Not sure if that's already in the curriculum. Could be done with a pitch overview (e.g. you need to cover these four points: problem-statement, team, idea, evaluation of progress in your 60 sec pitch) just as a starting exercise. Could be done otherwise, but I think we need to give them some more FRAMEWORK & TOOLS for them to play with their ideas before we critique them?
Students should have their business plans reviewed. I suspect in most cases they don't even know the elements of a proper business plan. We may want to give them a template. addressing strengths and weaknesses of the current team. identification of gaps, and plan to address. identification of risks, obstacles, and prerequisites market analysis primary customer research product roadmap major milestones (esp non product), with dates advisory board
