Need microphone and speaker, or conference phones, big screen and necessary cord attachments
Keep in Mind, sharing screens does not allow for larger screen sizes, so only show screen when showing presentation
We should advise alum to have good front lighting on their face
Microphone could be handed around
The people calling in should really do so for only 30 minutes or their session, too disengaging otherwise don't think people that aren't there physically should be critiquing students, too impersonal, q&A, presentation yes but not critiquing
need a hd video set up
The IT set up was really rough, poor audio, visual, etc. I got very disengaged quickly. I can't imagine a scenario where it can be better. We have 100K usd video con equipment at work and it still sucks so not sure anything we can do can improve it. The solution would be to have mentoring and commenting come only from those actually in attendance. If mentors are in cali like Eric, he can set up a good connection with his face in the screen fully when the student needs support on their own time, but getting the whole class in the frame is nearly impossible. Audio is the same challenge.
The other issue is that it strikes me as unfair for someone you have never met to comment on your project when they aren't even present in the room. That strikes me as odd - though it hadn't occurred to me at all until the class started.
