Problems with rovers. #16

When the rover's move around, they leave lots of 'X's so you can't tell
where they are.

Also, they move in a horribly inefficient pattern.  It would be nice if
they, say moved in straight lines or used a grid pattern.  

It would also be cool if rover's auto returned the the ship on command or
when they finished.
