crash to desktop .1.10a

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Not sure..tends to happen on planets with living creatures, as opposed
to empty planets.

Update: The crash occurs repeatedly on the same planet after happening the first
time.  I've found that the bug can occur on different planets too.  Also, I've 
found
a quest-giving bug.  Listed in my updated error log.

Minor issues:
Late game, station sickbays no longer stock any items
After dying, there can be an misplaced message which states that the captain
"miraculously recovered" even though you were fully wiped out.
