Using this branch to address tests/issues found in Le Beta #63

I added more tests to satisfy the jest coverage gods, which also applies to #53 I believe. I made some corrections to the API a bit as well, and will keep testing things out in 4.0.0-beta.1. I think once this branch satisfies any checks, we can consider merging this and doing a full release.
