datatypes currently supported:
- number (default)
- integer
- enum
- slider (really a number)
future dataypes:
- sequence: table of only one datatype. stores an 'index'. bi-modal. normal-mode chooses index. inspect-mode selects & changes values.
- exp: a number that should be incremented exponentially
- display types
{'histogram', 'bignum', 'radio'}can still be interacted with like other types! - passive: optional flag to indicate the object is a 'view' only (shouldn't be selectable / changeable)

we want to keep it as simple as possible so the script-facing declaration of params is barely more than a local variable. nothing as complex as the norns params system.
