Sizable gap created when running head variants are clicked

Three of the variants are in running heads, and when those are clicked, massive gaps are created. If we can make them slightly less massive, that would be nice.

I am having the hardest problem with this issue, partly because things seem to change while I am looking at them.

On "Example 1" above, this does not appear to be a variant anymore, or else there is a bug

(oh, I see jessica already pointed this out)

On example 2, which I added - it's not adding the extra space anymore, though I swear I saw it yesterday

I have an idea of how to fix it: when the variant appears in a form work, I would try to add the box AFTER the fw, rather than inside it

This appears to be fixed in Firefox and Chrome.
