I'd like to see the RStudio environment to used a newer version of R, hopefully something in the 4.0.0 series. It currently uses R 3.5.x which is about two years old. A note: As of R 4.0, rocker changed their base image to ubuntu:focal and a few other things and that series of images is managed from https://github.com/rocker-org/rocker-versioned2 and I'm not sure what it takes to take advantage of that work.
