Voters in Monroe, NY have voted to separate the Village of Kiryas Joel from the core town of Monroe and to create the new Town of Palm Date, which also annexes land from formerly unincorporated land from Orange County.
There's a piece in the NY Times (well worth your time), but I'd keep eyes on the NY State GIS Clearinghouse for when new boundary data hits.
