Via support (see Desk 1259)- there's a request for the Metro Vancouver Regional District polygon.
In OSM, it is this feature ~http://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/1852574#map=12/49.2241/-123.0597~.
Update: corrected link: http://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/2218280#map=10/49.2868/-123.0612
The data from the Open Data portal may not have anything outside the actual city.

WOF maintains this record for Vancouver.
It covers the same land area as that OSM feature above. If the support ticket is requesting that shape to include the water areas, too, we could file a new issue to import an alt-geometry shape that includes the waters surrounding Vancouver.
Oh, no, I copied the wrong OSM record from my testing. Sorry about that, @stepps00. The user wants this one:

I could not find a record covering this area in WoF.
"Metropolitan areas" are on the list (think the "Bay Area") and have been a thing we've wanted to do for ages. It's just that they get complicated and fiddly quickly so they keep getting pushed down the stack relative to everything else.
But they're on the list...
Ah, got it.. this falls under a "metro area" placetype that we've been discussing in https://github.com/whosonfirst-data/whosonfirst-data/issues/892.
The City of Vancouver's Open Data portal contains several venue datasets, including business license addresses, farmers markets and Olympic venues.
Use this issue to track imports and updates of venue data from this data portal.
