Start Nosleep Utility on System Startup - never stays ticked/activated. #34

I'm Using NoSLeep 1.3.0 on a Macbook Pro Early 2011 running latest OS X 10.7.4

In system preferences, I tick "Start NoSleep utility on system startup". But
when I go back into System Preferences for NoSleep, that option is no longer
ticked.

Not sure why.

Hi Steve,

After you've set the tick, could you check System Preferences -> Users & Groups
-> Login Items, is the NoSleepHelper present in a list or not?

Thanks,
Pavel.

Hi pavel,

Yes. It's in login items.

Is that all it needs?

So, the NoSleepHelper will be started automatically if it's in login items.

I'll try to figure out why the tick stays unchecked inside NoSleep preferences.

Thanks for the report,
Pavel.

Hi Pavel,

Perhaps it is not working properly. I have my macbook pro on scheduled shut
down (evening) and start up (early morning), with no sleep activated in login
items, and lid always closed (no external display). When I get to work the
computer is on but in sleep mode. Which tells me NoSleep is not activating at
start up.

Let me know if you need any further information.

I've tried removing and reinstalling NoSleep but no luck. "Start NoSleep on
system Start-up" still does not remain ticked. When the lid is closed and I
schedule a restart the mac goes restarts staright into sleep mode. I think
"Login items" are activated too late in the start up process by which time the
mac has gone to sleep.

Basically, I hope to have my lid closed for a number of weeks while I'm away,
but to have the computer shut down over night (Scheduled shut down and start
up).

I have the same issue on a 2007 MacBook. I check the box, leave the prefpane,
and return to find it unchecked. The NoSleepHelper app is in Login Items -- but
Login Items is not the same as system startup. If I restart the machine over
VNC, I can wait all day and the machine will not come back up. I have to go and
open the lid. Then once I login I can close the lid and it stays awake.

Fixing it so it launched on system startup and so the machine could boot
without having to open the lid would be great. (And thank you for your work on
this app. I was happy to donate for it.)
