Tab behavior is atypical for editors #7

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps demonstrate the usability issue?
1. Checked against Notepad++ and NetBeans IDE
2. Attempt to click relative to tab always selects to the left of the tab
3. Attempt to select tab only selects tab when dragged to far right of tab

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Typical behavior for insertion points is that it selects the NEAREST edge of
the tab. Once past 50% it will select the right edge of the tab, while below
50% it will select the left edge of the tab.

This may be true for all text component selections (that selection is always to
left of component instead of nearest left/right edge of component).

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
v 0.65, Windows Vista, JDK 7

Please provide any additional information below.

For 0.70 the default tab size has been decreased, which seems to have partially
resolved this issue.

Going to mark this one as closed, as there doesn't appear to be any reasonable
way to alter the tab selection behavior, and reducing the tab size has very
much improved the behavior when selecting items.
