Game Update for ISO. #90

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Mounted a game using the new ISO mounting as UMD feature
2. Hit Update and downloaded the update patch
3. Tried to run game from the mounted UMD, but got the error "The game could
not be started. (80010087)"

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
PSP 2001, 6.39 PRO-B7

Please provide any additional information below.
Tried to load Phantasy Star Portable 2 (Japanese version) and Tales of the
World Radiant Mythology (Japanese version) using their ver. 1.01 patches, but
the games would not load from the UMD mount. If the patch data is deleted the
games will load fine from the mount, also the patch data has no effect when
loading a normal non-mounted ISO (is there any way to change this?)

Tales of the World Radiant Mythology 3 is the game I tried to update to ver.
1.01. (forgot the 3 in additional information) Anyways, unless I'm missing
something, it seems there would be no point to the feature allowing me to mount
the game ISOs as an UMD to download updates if I'm not able to play the games
after updating them.

Sorry to bumb half year old issue but it seems to be still unsolved.

I have same problem with Project Diva 2nd (Japanese game). Clean ISO. Updated
to 1.01 and I get error (80010087). Working again if deleting update or loading
through non-mounting. Disabled all game plugins and noDRM was off already: no
effect at all.
PSP-2004, 6.20 PRO-B10.fix1

@rayearth: well there's UMD video's which can be played becouse of ISO mount.
Tested and that worked flawlessy! Shame that I don't watch that much videos
with PSP becouse of higher resolution android phone, though >_>

ISO mount is used for UMD video only.

Not really. Many games work when ISO is mounted as UMD as well.

The point of this issue is that after mounting the ISO and downloading the
official PSN patch the game no longer works while mounted as UMD nor the patch
is applied when using an ISO loader.

Even that it's only meant for UMD videos it doesn't mean it can't be improved
to work with games and PSN updates?

"ISO mount is used for UMD video only." <-- The fact it does sometimes work
does not mean it is the purpose of this option.

"Even that it's only meant for UMD videos it doesn't mean it can't be improved
to work with games and PSN updates" <-- the team is busy at this moment,
projects like aemu (also called pro online) are more important than increasing
iso mount compatibility.

I misunderstood the issue when I closed it, I'm sorry, I reopen it.

Please someone to confirm the issue.

We know the dev's are busy with PRO online, but being able to download PSN game
patches is a pretty important thing to implement in the future since there are
multiple games that require PSN patches to either work properly or alllow to
use the full game potential (unadvertently disabled due to bugs).

By mountin a game ISO as UMD we can download a PSN patch, however after
downloading a patch the game no longer starts using ISO UMD Mount.
Unfortunately if we download the patch using ISO UMD Mount option it it not
applied at all to the ISO games launched using the default method (or
standalone ISO loader).

Downloading the PSN patch could be achieved from the game menu by pressing the
triangle over a certain game in ISO format and updateing from there - if it was
implemented in a similar way the OFW "updates" UMD games.

I gues this sums up this whole issue. I am willing to wait for this feature as
well as many other people with buggy unpatched games...

Issue Summary:
Request to integrate "ISO TOOL's", Game update (Get updater, patch ISO with PSN
Patch) into ISO options in XMB to be updated just as easily as UMD game.
