Works fine on one Slack team but not on another (any more) #40

Until today this was working perfectly on all three Slack teams I have configured. Today though it isn't working correctly for ONE of the teams. Anyone have any ideas?

I've removed the team & re-added it, removed Slack entirely and reinstalled it (Mac version, direct download from Slack website), even rebooted my machine. Same situation.

The issue is only with text in the main conversation window of the app (not the sidebar) where the text is too dark on one team but fine on another.

@steveharman I also have same issue, but in my case problem is with background color of messages during mouse hover.

I have both of those issues, and my main window text is invisible unless I hover. Slack customer service tells me "We did recently revise some things on the message pane window for performance and accessibility improvements." and "This feature is a slow rollout and it would be expected that some teams might reflect the change and some might not."

Also "We are considering the best way froward for dark mode native to Slack, but I'm sorry to say I don't have a timeline I can share." Fingers crossed

They've been saying that since 2016, just like Bitbucket has an issue open for Checkboxes in their markdown since 2014. There's plenty of people wanting it, but for some mysterious reason they cannot be bothered spending 1-2 weeks of development time doing it.

And on Twitter they are saying since 2014 that Night mode is on the list but not a high priority. https://twitter.com/slackhq/status/531941157283315712 I don't think we should wait for them to develop this Dark mode...

I switched to https://github.com/laCour/slack-night-mode, it's also much easier with that to remove sidebar CSS so you can theme it in Slack separately. See https://github.com/laCour/slack-night-mode/issues/73 for desktop client hack.

This morning all traces of the dark theme have now gone.

No updates to Slack have happened over night (I don't have automatic updates enabled on my Mac) but this tweak no longer seems to work for me on any of my Slack teams. :-(

UPDATE: Thanks @Zoooook The comment from @ChipWOlf (search "Slack Dark Mode for Mac OS" at https://github.com/laCour/slack-night-mode/issues/73 ) works fine for me. Full contrast text on black is now back! :-)

If anyone is going to do this; best to quit Terminal after making the edit & quit your Slack app if it's running, then re-launch Terminal and finally launch Slack.

Now that's out of the way, perhaps we can all get on to Slack about why they've been promising this for over four years and nothing's come of it? ;-)
