Download of .pdf downloads on mobile devices as .bin #448

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Attempt to download .pdf file onto mobile/tab device.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expect to see .pdf but instead the file downloads as a .bin file that is
corrupt.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Version 1.8.6.1

Please provide any additional information below.

This issue does NOT happen if the file is downloaded onto a PC/Mac. please
advise.

Thank you for your assistance,

-Mario

Mobile devices are very picky about the HTTP headers when it comes to
downloads, and downloading bin file is very common result. Here's one blog post
about this:
http://www.digiblog.de/2011/04/android-and-the-download-file-headers/

BTW, are you sure the file is corrupt, or just badly named?

I did make improvements in later versions for mobile downloads, is it possible
to try upgrading?

Okay I did check to see if I could rename the file extension, and it did work.
For android users just wanted to add that I was using Astro File Explorer and
renamed the downloadfile.bin to (myfilename).pdf, where myfilename is what you
want to rename the file to. I appreciate the input on the new version update
and will look to upgrade, thanks!

Just wanted to update this issue and let everyone know that upgrading my
database to the latest version of Mollify did indeed fix the downloads as .bin
error! No more having to rename files, yay! Thanks again!

If you are using version 2, then I'll make some changes in next release which
should fix this.
