Regarding your last point ("post here for discussion") there are very few AFC editors who frequent this board. I would suggest potentially posting at WT:AFC and see what the general populace thinks. It will also help us get a better idea (if "needed") of which of the three options should be looked at to implement.
Sometimes during draft creation the original
{{AfC submission|T}}
bit of code gets eaten up somewhere. This can often lead to confusion with being then unable to follow instructions that state to "press the 'submit your draft for review' button", as that doesn't exist. AfC reviewers then sometimes need to add this themselves manually, which is something that could be trivially automated.While there is already a system to submit a draft for review on someone else's behalf, it can be beneficial to simple mark the draft as a "draft"—that is, add back in the
{{AfC submission|T}}
. This could likely be implemented in the helper script by one of these options: 1) By having a dedicated button in the same area as "clean submission" that adds{{subst:AfC draft|<username>}}
, similar to the current behavior of the "Submit" button. 2) By having a "Leave unsubmitted" checkbox when pressing the "Submit" button, optionally with mouseover text explaining its use. 3) By automatically, or by an option, adding in an{{subst:AfC draft|<page creator>}}
when cleaning a submission that has no AfC templates already transcluded.I'm personally a fan of the first option, but I think it could be argued that this may be entirely unnecessary—it's a rare occurrence, and not exactly tricky to do by hand, I figured I'd post this here for discussion in case anyone else has some thoughts.
