Yes, this is another example of that issue. Right now, I think all edges are automatically set to be rendered before all nodes. That logic needs to change.
In IE, markers won't reliably display when they are stacked with a shape, regardless of whether they are above or below.
In Chrome, markers appear to display reliably when they have a higher z-order than the shape, but if the shape has a background color, the marker won't match that background color.
