We asked supermarkets first. Supermarket bags seen as dirty waste, supermarkets biggest collector. Wont share as breaking their customer promise ‘closed loop.’

When Deepack Plastics are making their brightly coloured polythene bags for hospitals, factories and homes, there is always a short strip at the start of the run that is a waste product. Usually sent off for traditional recycling, they've been saving them up for us to transform into a garden of plastic delights. Snails, flowers and dragonflies will be emerging as our makers work their magic. We headed to their site just 8 miles from Chester Zoo to collect our first batch of materials.
