Slash command is being included verbatim #39

I don't know if this is intentional, but when I create a poll, a message with the slash command included verbatim shows up in the channel's backlog. Like this:

Is there a way I can turn that off?

Ah, that's the "Show Poll Author" setting.

Could I request some other way of showing the author? The slash command thing feels super weird. Maybe a by javawizard thing right next to Edit Settings?

Hi @javawizard Yep, that's that setting. I'm exploring other options for showing the poll author, but the beautify of this one is that it also teaches the rest of your team how creating polls works.

Oh please make the verbatim command go away and not even be an option. It really clutters the discussion, especially if we are trying to do multiple quick votes with 5+ options.

Simple option for showing others how to use it is to just add a help link to the FAQ.

Ideally, we would then add a flag to allow anonymous authors for when you need an opinion without others knowing who is asking. Then have the author name show "Anonymous Coward" or something humorous.

/poll "Who says yes?" "Yes" :+1: "No" :-1: "Monkey" hiddenauthor
