So it will be interesting to see if there is any difference between the sub-populations on the Rc–R90 graph.
I need to check exactly what they mean by the "in H II region" classification, since when you think about it all OB stars must be in H II regions. Maybe they mean inside compact regions with PAH emission around them
In the Kobulnicky paper they classify the bow shocks into (1) isolated ones (the majority) and (2) ones inside H II regions, and (3) ones facing bright rimmed clouds (as seen at 8 microns).
The latter two cases may be interacting with photoevaporation or champagne flows (weather vanes), whereas the first case are presumably runaway stars.
In principle there should be a difference in shape between the two cases. Wilkinoid for the runaways. Carawilkinoid for the weather vanes.
