Separate team/player lists on the Records pages #44

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Dropdown menus for entering Records contain every single league player
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I'd like to see new entries in the Hall of Fame/Wanted Players/etc. start
with a dropdown of teams, and then a new menu pop up with the players from
the chosen team (sort of like how choosing the "FFA free for all" option
on Scheduling then causes a new menu to appear in which to choose the FFA
to which the match will be added).

What version of the product are you using?

0.38r29

Please provide any additional information below.

Our league is rather large, with 30+ coaches now having entered 50 teams
already and more being entered all the time -- so to add a player to the
Hall of Fame or Wanted list will entail scrolling through a menu of 500+
players. It would be much more managable for a league our size if we
could choose the team first, then choose the player only from within that
team.

Thank!
Mike

Is this really important?
Lets say you have 500+ players. The first letter of the teams' names are
unlikely to
be the same, and therefore you can quickly get to the wanted part of the list by
pressing the drop-down with your mouse and then pressing the key on your
keyboard
that corresponds to the first letter of the name of the team in question.
Some browsers even allow you to press a key more to sort even further!

Sorry, just remembered to check my Gmail and saw this message today. It's not
really
important, no. According to the Players table in phpMyAdmin, our database
currently
has 1,170 players in it while we're in our 2nd season using the tracker. But I
recently put in the first-season Records entries and had used the keyboard keys
to
jump around quickly enough. It would be a nicety, but it's definitely a
low-priority
item.
