apps cannot launch, with error "execvp: permission denied"

installer.sh ran successfully. The problem is launching apps. For example, launching the Windows command prompt. When I search for "cmd" on my host machine, it is found by search, but when I click on the search result, I get execvp: permission denied

The host is MX Linux 23 KDE (based on Debian 12) The guest is Windows 10, running in qemu/KVM. The guest was created according to the winapp guide, and it runs just fine. BTW thanks for the great guide.

On my host system, the path of the winapps folder is ~/winapps However, the Desktop Entry file for "cmd" was telling the system to look for it in /home/shmuel/.local/bin/winapps And the system was not finding it, obviously. This is the same for all the automatically added apps. So I edited the path in the Desktop Entry file cmd.desktop as follows: Exec=/home/shmuel/winapps cmd %F Now the host system finds cmd, but I get the above-mentioned error: execvp: permission denied

In an attempt to solve the issue, I edited the permissions of ~/winapps as in screenshot, but it didn't help.

I think you can ignore the error messages. I had the same problem its missing the winapps files ~/.local/bin/ it needs atleast a winapps file and for every application it also needs the file. Can you check if there is a winapps and explorer file under ~/.local/bin/

@shmu26 Did you install the RDPWindows.reg inside the VM? Also, in the desktop entry it should be /home/shmuel/winapps/bin/winapps, not /home/shmuel/winapps
