"Failed to initialize Direct3D" when trying to launch Planet #84

When I try to launch Planet by Oskar Stålberg, I get an error dialog with the following:

Failed to initialize Direct3D.
Make sure you have at least DirectX 9.0c installed, have drivers for your
graphics card and have not disabled 3D acceleration
in display settings.
InitializeEngineGraphics failed

My system:

OpenSUSE Tumbleweed
X.Org 1.19.6
KDE Plasma 5.13.2
Intel Core-i7 4790k@4.6GHz
Nvidia Geforce GTX 780
Nvidia proprietary 390.67
