To make Disman a tool and library that is pleasant to use on all kind of desktop environments our build system must be top-notch.

It must be possible to build Disman with few if any KDE dependencies.
Dependencies may only be declared in the components that need them (library, backends, etc).
We must adhere to all important standards of modern CMake.
