System Information says CPU is running at 0 GHz #1706

Brief description of your issue

image

My CPU is i5-1035G1 as shown in the picture.

I am quite sure this issue has always been present, as far as I can remember.

I assume it is not my fault, since I also use System Informer on another Windows 10 PC (which has i7-4790) and it has always shown the correct value there.

I am not sure what other info I should provide, obviously I am available for further investigation.

Steps to reproduce (optional)

Open System Information from System Informer, switch to CPU view.

Expected behavior (optional)

CPU speed should show current CPU frequency in GHz.

Actual behavior (optional)

Instead 0 GHz is shown most of times, which clearly is not the actual CPU frequency; rarely a value different from 0 is shown but I can't tell if it is right.

Environment (optional)

System Informer 3.0.6548 (8e80545)
Windows 10 Home 64 bit
Intel i5-1035G1

What does Task Manager show for the frequency?

ico2k2developer commented 1 year ago

image Here for example it shows 3.38 GHz

ico2k2developer commented 1 year ago

Looks like I have found something that triggers the malfunction.

On my laptop, in Windows' taskbar, in the notification section there is a battery icon which of course has the purpouose to give information about power/battery status. If I click it, a small window pops up which, again, gives information about battery status but with more details, and it contains also a Energy saving/Perfomance slider.

Now, if I set the said slider to full power, System Information says CPU is running at 0 GHz; otherwise if set it to energy saving there are no issues.

image Here I have set energy saving mode from the small bottom right pop up window, and System Information says 1.65 GHz while Task manager says 1.67 GHz

image Here I have set full performance mode and System Information says 0.00 GHz while Task manager says 3.40 GHz.

And then if I set it back on energy saving it starts working fine again.

Hope this helps

Kurze Beschreibung Ihres Problems

Bild

Umgebung (optional)

System Informer 3.0.6548 (8e80545)
Windows 10 Home 64 bit
Intel i5-1035G1

This product uses English language, all developers use English, and all issues (including this one) are also in English. So even if you set your GirHub language to German, it won't automatically convert projects to other languages. Please translate your post in English.
