6 years ago Note that most "summary description" fields are populated, most "longer description" fields aren't.
If we were still using the spreadsheet, a quick and easy hack would be to simply copy over the summary descriptions into the longer description fields when the longer description fields are not populated. This would have the disadvantage that it would be harder to see whether the longer description had been populated, but it would fix the search issue. However this would be difficult now that we are no longer using the spreadsheet.
An alternative solution would be for me to go through all the charities and write longer descriptions for them. This will take some time.
Not sure if this was deliberate, but it seems that the longer description no longer gets searched. This means that, for example, searches for "Bone Marrow" don't find the Anthony Nolan Trust and searches for "AMF" don't find AMF.
I suspect that the search is now searching in the longer description, and is ignoring the summary description (e.g. searches for "in care" find the Church of England Children's Society, but don't find Action for Children, which is consistent with my suspicion)
