Stripe transaction fees #179

Open SanjayRedScarf opened 6 years ago

Currently SoGive is swallowing Stripe transaction fees. This is fine for now, but in time we should transition to the donor paying for them, as is the case elsewhere. Before we do that, I would like to make sure that this is adequately explained as part of the donation process. We should probably have a quick look at how other organisations do this first, and then find a suitable approach.

Hello Sanjay

I think normal practice is not to explain this. I've just tested that by making a donation to the charity associated with Joshi's school. This is a Virgin Money fundraising page. I used the PayPal Donate route -- they charge 1.4% + 20p. There was no mention of this fee.

I think we simply deduct the money collection fee from the donation, and that's normal practice. I can't think I've ever noticed an explanation of credit card fees.
