Feature request: Direct-share, Channel or Broadcast feature #257

It would be great to introduce a broadcast feature. Friends of us told us about this WhatsApp-feature (https://faq.whatsapp.com/en/android/23130793) and we think it is great feature. A broadcast list/group is different then the normal groups: This will create a new list of broadcast recipients. When you send a message to the Broadcast List, it will send to all recipients in the list. The recipients will receive the message as a normal message. When they reply, it will appear as a normal message in your chats screen; their reply will not be sent to other recipients in the Broadcast List. For private people as well as businesses this would be a very helpful tool and I hope Wire will replace WA step by step.

Any comment? Sure. here Wire. its whatsapp, since that feature seems marketing related, or suitable for any organization send bunch of notifications time to time as personal message otherwise any forums, group admin spawn ton of notifications. >>I really do not like that<< .................................. For now, You can create one more group and add necessary users then separate it for such task while has default chat group.

.................................. I prefer suggest to wire consider for introduce //channel// facility instead for fulfill that request but

(you may able see the difference and functionality) > same as personal messages. it'll show notification on users devices

..................................

Why do not like such broadcast feature/ drop notifications as personal message?

The thing. i dont like see such disaster on Wire. even enhance such social friendly facilities please be consider restrict thing and wire able support to integrate recognition system (like google vision/ aws rekognition) for those public communication groups, channels.

That never break any privacy except protect worldwide children, good people.

@vboxpro Thank you for sharing your thoughts and fears. As I don't use WhatsApp and Discord I can not comment on the problems with these apps. Sorry, I don't understand the difference between broadcast and channel. But I fully agree the broadcast/channel feature or maybe it is better to find a new word, e.g. direct-share-group should not be used to spam the user with unwanted messages and information. The user should be the one who to decide which direct-share-groups to join and it should be easy to leave the group again. It should surely not be used to share unacceptable content.

What I have in mind regarding this direct-share-feature: For example, a person makes a trip and would like to keep his friends up-to-date, he creates a group and invites her/his friends, they can join/leave the group as they want. As not all friends know each other and to reduce the messages shared with all in the group, only the group owner (in this case, the travelling person) can write/share in this group. If the friends want to respond, they can do this via one-to-one chat. If possible, it would be good that the list of group members are not visible to the other group members or at least the option to do so. Could I explain it clearly?

Thanks for considering such a feature and paying attention that it does not cause problems vboxpro mentioned.
