During calibration phase, a gray chart can be shot, crop can be extracted manually. The reflectance of the chart is known, it allows to capture the average color & intensity of ambient light while coupling with shooting parameters from the camera.
Sensor linearity is granted during capture because we are using raw format.
Using calibration would allow to have faithful reflectance values (& comparable images at different time of the year for instance).
Right now, the colors & vegetation indexes are still sort of artsy.
