PS2 to HDMI flicker problem HDMI Fix setting #1

Hello, I want to post a issue: when I play Final Fantasy VII (ntsc region patched to pal, I have mechapwn), on SCPH 50004 PAL and choosing following options: force ntsc and PS2 to HDMI Fix, the game loads perfectly until the actual game. Then it starts flickering like crazy. Battles are pitch black, but the menus are perfectly fine. Great even.

My console is PGIF and the DKWDRV is on 1.7.2 I have no modchip, just FHDB and Mechapwn.

Here is the video: YouTube video

Just a disclaimer: the game works perfectly fine when using GSM 480p PS1 option (its actually 480i but is labeled as such in gsm but works fine that way) and standard ps1drv. It has some minor deinterlacing issues but nothing big.

It would be nice to be able to actually fix that because without the flicker it would look gorgeous! Better than GSM. And you can turn dithering off! There is definitely an improvement in menus on your driver and screen is perfectly centered.

Ps. I also tried force PAL and HDMI Fix but its Black screen for entire game :-/.

Ps2. Will it be possible to patch region on PGIF consoles in the future?

Thank you for taking the time to post an issue here and report the problem. There are many features of this driver not explored yet and some might have bugs, so the more people report those, the better.

We need more information: Redump ID of the original unpatched game and, if possible, another video showing the full boot, up to the flicker part and the menus when it works fine. And we need all the information on the INFO section of the driver too. Does this issue happen on other TVs? PGIF console region patch is not possible. These consoles will always report the same hardcoded region. Only videomode forcing is possible for them. What HDMI adapter are you using?

We thank you for your interest on this and will try to investigate the issue further but no ETA for now.

Hello, yes it happens on other screens. Actually I have another "screen" - a DLP projector. I tried S-video and composite and when choosing force NTSC, there is the same flicker as on ps2tohdmi.

Here is video: https://youtu.be/o-OU_BesiwU mind that it may look different than previous video, but I assure you that the flicker looks the same as on my HDTV. I use official Sony s-video cables for projector.

I investigated the problem further. The flicker is only on world map and battles. The towns are OK.

I also checked PAL version forced to NTSC and in that version, the battles load but are glitched (the character models are fine but battle stage displays incorrectly).

Here is video of pal version: https://youtu.be/M5cESETlaq8

I only recorded the glitched parts, everything else is fine.

As for redump id: SCUS-94163. It happens both in FF7 ORIGINAL and Retranslated patched ISO.

The adapter: https://1.allegroimg.com/original/03ddb3/2ef6fc5a4ddfac60fa55fbe23811/Adapter-Konwerter-Przejsciowka-PS2-do-HDMI But as I said before - it happens on both composite and s-video also (with just Force Ntsc option on and nothing else - I tried different combinations).

Isn't the menus on FF7 480i and game 240p? Maybe it is related to 240p.

EDIT I just tried Resident Evil 3 Nemesis and it works perfectly with PS2 to HDMI Fix, disable dither and disable color band :-) It must be something with 240p because RE3 is 480i for sure. Everything including menus is fine.

EDIT2: TEKKEN 3 also works perfectly and looks amazing :-)

No time to test this yet. Why do you patch the original game for other mode? Duckstation shows menu and game with same resolution. Will try later but a full video of from boot to the part where it flickers would be better. Can you try on DECKARD consoles? There will be more graphics improvements in the future, thing will looks much more better, hopefully.
